Cambodia Team 2011
Working with Sparrow's Nest in Phnom Penh August 10 - 22
Thanks to everyone for helping to make this trip a success. The team arrived home safely Monday afternoon after a ten-hour flight from Seoul, Korea. Because of your prayers and support, there were no injuries, very little sickness, and much work was accomplished on the Sparrow's Nest building. Watch this video for a guided tour by our own Marissa Flannery...

On Friday, we flew to the northern town of Siem Reap and visited Angkor Wat, the most significant historical sites in Cambodia. It was built for the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. It was a great way to experience more of the Cambodian history and culture, and to rest up before beginning our long trek home.

The last few days have been a swirl of activity, and ready or not, we board the plane Wednesday afternoon...

Our first full day in Cambodia began with a cultural orientation during breakfast. We learned that Cambodians respect elders, are helpful, relational, and always smile. We also learned that they value patience and politeness and that it is considered bad manners to raise your voice or to express anger...
After 17 hours of travel with a transfer in Seoul, Korea, we finally arrived in Phnom Penh. It's hard to believe we're actually standing on Cambodian soil!
