Hope A Vital Ingredient in Life

Last Sunday I spoke on FAITH. This Sunday I will speak on HOPE. Obviously, the two are closely connected. Too often, we only think of Hope in terms of Heaven, the place God is preparing for us. We miss the full meaning of Hope if we limit it simply to the eternal and not the present. Sunday, I will take a broader look at a subject that is so important for a full, healthy and happy life.

2 - Jesus is our Savior
3 - Jesus is our Friend
4 - Jesus is our Helper

I.     HOPE IS A VITAL INGREDIENT IN LIFE

  • Hope or Hopelessness regarding the future
  • A simple definition of Hope: "To believe that good things are about to happen"

II.    FACTS OR FEELINGS

  • Hard Facts or Vision
  • Two sides of the Brain
  • What limits us?
  • Visions and Dreams

III.   THE POWER OF HOPE

  • Life is not always fair and logical
  • Hard facts or vision
  • The Christian has reason to Hope
  • The Bible speaks clearly about Vision

IV.  GOD'S GIFT OF HOPE FOR OUR LIVES

  • The absence of hope
  • The possession of hope
  • The Bible heroes were people of Hope and Vision

V.   WE NEED HOPE TO BATTLE DESPAIR

  • Despair because of who we have become
  • Despair because of our track record
  • Despair because of our enemies

VI.  EXCUSES IN NOT FULFILLING GOD'S PURPOSES FOR OUR LIVES

  • We lack training
  • We don't have credentials
  • We do not have experience
VII. REMEMBER THE BASIS OF CHRISTIAN HOPE
  • God created us
  • Jesus is our Savior
  • Jesus is our Friend
  • Jesus is our Helper
